Most women are "Marthas" and find the life of a "Mary" to be somewhat mysterious. As a "Mary," my blog (brand new this month!) is intended to explore the theology of Mary of Bethany and explore the place of a "Mary" in contemporary society (traditionally, the "contemplative life" of Mary has been seen as relevant only to women seeking religious vocations, such as nuns or pastor's wives, but I believe that is much too narrow an application). Just in terms of theology and Bible study, Mary is surprisingly unexamined compared to other NT women such as Mary the mother of Jesus, Martha, and Mary Magdalene.
