I think Jesus deliberately chose the most marginalized women in that society to reveal himself to after his resurrection. I think he did it so we'd never doubt how much he cares about women and how they're treated.
-Andrew Snaden, When God Met a Girl
Sadly, women have been under attack ever since Eve met a stranger in the garden.
We like to to act proud of ourselves in this modern day and claim that we have evolved into a culture that has liberated women.
I hate to break the news to you, but culture has always mistreated women, and God has always liberated them.
We live in a fallen, broken world that is full of the evidence of its sinful nature:
This modern day culture that claims to liberate women has at many times only liberated men to speak more openly about them as objects to lust after.
They call it "sexual revolution." Is it really women who benefit from this line of thinking?
Others see liberation as telling women that they need to have surgery when pregnant in order to achieve equality with men. Another disappointment for the women who were already created equal by God.
I think I'm seeing a pattern here - convenience for men!
The early feminists certainly did not have these low views of women. Learn more about this at www.womendeservebetter.com
His place for women has always been higher.
We see this at the moment of Eve's creation, when God declares her an ezer, an intimate and essential ally in battle.
We see it in the women of influence in the Old Testament, where God used women for great purposes without consulting men.
We see it in Jesus and the revolutionary way that he treated women while on earth.
We see it in the women of the early church, where apostles who witnessed the ministry of Jesus became the first men to see women as human beings of equal value.
Culture will continue to find new ways to abuse women and call it liberation.
However, God will continue make women's place at the center of his kingdom and at the center of his love.
