None of us exists in a vacuum (and some of us, like myself, don't even have one). -Laurie Beth Jones, The Path
Tabitha's Team inspires women to seek first to be disciples, encourage each other to break free from perfectionism, and live as servants of Jesus.
Our first priority is to follow Jesus, abide in him, and act on his words. Responsibilities to our husbands, children, church, and profession will fall in line when we have direction from our relationship with Jesus.
God has placed variety in his creation and in the women who serve him. He has given each of us a specific role in his kingdom, and we support each other with our unique gifts and abilities.
We realize that we are saved by grace, and that we need Jesus to perfect us. We recognize that Proverbs 31 is an expression of the character and works that flow from a woman who is walking daily with Jesus, and that this character cannot be achieved from the "outside-in" by imitation.
The purpose of breaking free from perfectionism is not to make us feel better. We reject perfectionism and the self-centered nature that it produces so that we can serve God by reaching out to those in need. Instead of projecting a life that makes Jesus seem unreachable, we seek to live a life that reveals the love and grace of Jesus to those who need to find it.
