Always enthusiastic about people, writing, reading, and just plain living, Tia Lott is a single mother, a teacher, and a writer. She is a lover of God and seeks to find God's will in all that she does, but she will be the first to tell you that although she was always an eager, hard working, and loving person, her steps were futile and sometimes destructive, until she gave her life to Christ in 1997.
Tia was raised in Atlanta, Georgia, studied Mass Communications and Journalism in undergraduate study in Boston, Massachusetts, and now resides with her two sons in Virginia, where she has been a teacher for eleven years and earned her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. As a teacher, Tia specializes in assisting students, no matter the level, to reach their highest literacy potential. In churches, she has served as a lay leader, a youth ministry director, an usher, and a choir member. In schools, she has served as an elementary and a middle school teacher, a team leader, and a department leader.

How do you and your friends practice teamwork?
Through all of these activities, the dearest thing that Tia enjoys is her sons and her students. Tia says, "I was a good kid, and everyone took for granted that I would be fine, but as I neared adolescents I was not fine. My grades were great; my manners were impeccable, and everyone assumed that I was fine, but all along the enemy was setting his traps. My saved grandmother was several states apart from me, and no one nurtured or modeled a spiritual life of God's principles. I ventured into life with many God given talents, but no idea of how to use them. I ended up in an abusive marriage, in which I was blessed with two sons. In 1997, I gave my life to Christ, and now I know what worshiping, serving, living, mentoring, and nurturing is meant to be…driven by the love of Jesus Christ and guided by the precepts of God.”
It is the love of Jesus Christ that enables Tia to raise tween and teen sons, in a Christian home, model Christian principles, in the public school setting, and share insights, through her writing.
Tia would love to discuss any questions or thoughts on motherhood, single parenting, working with and raising adolescents, or education with you here at Tabitha's Team. You can also visit her blog at http://theboyzmomma.blogspot.com/
