It actually began 6 years ago. My oldest was in pre-kindergarden... big school still a year away. Another mom in my Sunday school class would make announcements in class about Moms In Touch and how she was looking for another mom to pray with... all year she looked and asked. The next year, as my son began Kindergarden, my friend brought something by my house.
"Tell me about this mom's praying group."
It popped out of my mouth. I hadn't dwelt on it. No counting down the days until my son began school and I would be some how "qualified" to then pray for him and his school.
The last five years have been a HUGE learning experience. She blogs about how regularly being a part of MITI has taught her to pray. It has also taught me about spiritual warfare. The more we have tried to get others involved... it still seems to be the two of us praying together.
Others have come to pray with us for a season, then the spiritual attacks come and though they earnestly want to pray with us... they can't. There were plenty of day with MITI on my calender of thing to do that day and it would all go wrong. Phone calls to my friend... baby's not feeling well, just got a call from school, he's sick, whatever.
For every complication trying to keep me from praying for my sons' and their school there are dozens of answers to prayer. Prayers for them, their classmates, their teachers, their principal, vice-principal, school board, and director of schools (prayers for him would be a whole blog by itself) have been poured over and most answered clearly and quickly.
In five years I know, HE wants us to pray. He wants us to answer those prayers.
"Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you." Jn 16:23
Moms In Touch is "Appointment Prayer"... I heard David Letterman once refer to TV shows that we go out of our way to plan to see as "Appointment TV" (Gray's Anatomy, etc.) My MITI time is my appointment each week to talk with God about my son's and their school. Other requests I have, health concerns for family and friends, family issues, or other things on my heart are for another time. MITI is 60 minutes for my boys.
